Solar PV & Wind
Harvard plans 100% renewable energy by 2050.
New wind and solar online primarily in CA, NC, SC, IL, OK, NV, VA and VT.
NYS 1,000% increase in solar PV from 2011 to 2017. Represents $2.8 BN private investment. 1 GW of solar PV in development.
MA installs 78,000 solar PV projects representing 2 GW. 50% in last 2 years.
TX has 4 GW wind power under construction, US has 13 GW.
ERCOT attractive target market for solar PV. 9% reserve margin. Challenge in West TX is transmission. Solar PV projects < 50 MW avoid congestion.

Thermal Power
Increase in energy efficiency will slow growth in energy demand to 0.4%. Gas prices expected to remain below $5/MMBtu through 2050. Solar PV cost to fall.

Energy Storage
Energy storage to be a key component of the clean energy industry.
35 GW of storage by 2025. US market for energy storage reaching $3.1 BN by 2022. Revenue of $10.4 BN from 2017 to 2022. FERC NOPR for energy storage pending.
Energy storage economics: (1) 2 MW project, (2) 15 cycles/day, (3) 1.5 year payback period and (4) additional income - Frequency regulation services

Oil & Gas
US to become net exporter of energy by 2022.
