Mark Dennes I've spent the last 25 years helping start and grow successful clean energy businesses. I get up every day excited about solving climate change through the intersection of technology and business. These days I do that by advising startups and growth companies, helping them to raise capital and achieve scale.
In addition to my advisory work, I serve as an investor in renewable energy and the energy transition for Time Equities, one of the largest real estate investors.
I previously helped found Catalyze, one of North America’s fasest growing developers of solar PV, storage and EV charging projects. As a member of the finance team,, we grew Catalyze by raising over $500 MM of corporate finance and over $150 MM of project finance. Catalyze’s projects deliver clean energy to leading utilites, C&I customers and energy buyers in the U.S.. We sold the company to EnCap in 2020 and subsequently to Arctus in 2022. Prior to Catalyze, I was a senior business developer for Cate Street Capital, one of the U.S.'s fastest growing investors in companies pursuing a sustainable future. The company delivered a number of industry milestones, including what was then one of the largest biomass power project in the US and a solar PV power development comony that sold projects to investors.
Through my energy work, I have also been active in policy advocacy and public service. I serve as an advisor to the non-for-profit Peoples Solar Energy Fund, a 501(c)(3) that invests in start-ups and growth companies delivering renewable energy to low income communities.
I came to energy with a background in banking. I worked for international banks including BNP Paribas, MUFG and UBS.
The personal stuff? I’m a graduate of UPenn, the Simon Business School and Macquarie University in Australia, a triathlete and amateur skier. I’m the proud father of 2 girls and husband to Meridith Dennes.
